More than half of students attending MPN target schools have access to a medical home. 67% report seeing a doctor in the past year when not sick or injured. When broken down by grade level, first and second grade students are the least likely to have a medical home. But compared to SFUSD, only 73% of MPN kindergarteners reported having a similar check-up.
In order to gather medical home information for children attending the four MPN target schools, the Center for Latino Policy Research conducted a classroom survey in May 2012 where data was gathered from 709 students in grades K-11. Students responded to the following question: In the past year, did you have a regular check-up with a doctor when you were NOT sick or injured? Readiness data collected by Applied Survey Research (ASR) for San Francisco Unified also reports medical home information for children entering school.
